About UW Chamber Singers and Chorale
The University of Washington Chamber Singers, formerly known as the Madrigal Singers, is the UW’s longest-standing choral organization, formed in the early 1930s. The current Chamber Singers, consisting of graduate and advanced undergraduate music majors, vocal performance majors, and music education majors, has expanded in size and repertoire to focus on challenging repertoire of all periods.
The University Chorale is the premiere undergraduate choral ensemble at UW and is known for its highly expressive performances and technical abilities. Entrance to this ensemble is based on the factors of strong vocal technique, strong sight-singing abilities and a willingness to work with others to obtain the highest possible standards.
Most recently, the Chamber Singers and Chorale performed “A Mass for Our Time”, which included the world premiere of Pacific Sanctus by Robert Kyr, at the 2010 Northwest American Choral Directors Association Convention held in Seattle.
